Here’s a question I get asked a lot: “Hey Paul, how much do cam performers make?” Well, the answer can be anywhere from pennies to thousands. Yes, that’s right, thousands. Some people have not only turned it into full-time careers, but it’s also afforded them a comfortable lifestyle. The next question I get asked is almost always, “So, how do I do the same?” That question is why I’ve added this article to my user guide. Becoming a cam performer is easy. Follow my steps and you’ll be on your way!
Step 1: Invest in a Fast & Reliable Internet Connection
It’s a no-brainer, but probably one of the most important steps you can take on your journey to becoming a successful cam entertainer. Cable and fiber optic connections are your friends. There’s nothing that kills the mood more than when a someone’s webcam keeps freezing or buffering.
Step 2: Invest in a High-Quality Webcam
Next up, invest in a webcam that’s high quality and will last you a long time. Most offer 720p or 1080p resolution, but I’d even recommend getting a 4K model. Yes, those are going to cost a little more (upwards of $500), but you need to look at it as a long-term investment. What’s spending a few hundred on equipment if eventually, you’ll become successful enough to earn that amount in a day?
Ultimately, it pays to do some research. Decide what your budget is and start from there. Here are some examples of the type of webcams you can buy:

Step 3: Decide Where You Want to Broadcast
Different sites offer different benefits, so it’s up to you to decide which one works best for you. If you’re a multitasker, there’s no rule against broadcasting on multiple sites at the same time. In fact, there’s downloadable software you can get, such as Split Camera and Many Camera, that will help you do just that. The most significant benefit of this is the exposure. The more you put yourself out there, the bigger your chances of success.
Step 4: Sign-Up For a Free Account
Now that you’ve decided the site where you’re going to broadcast yourself, sign up for your free account. Once you’re approved, you’ll be ready to start earning cash. It’s that simple!

I cannot stress this enough. As a cam performer, you should have, at the very least, the following social media accounts:

I’d say those are the most important, but you can extend your reach even further with a Tumblr and YouTube account. The bottom line is to gain as much exposure as possible – and linking to your social media pages is probably the best way to do this. I would also recommend making these accounts separate from any personal ones you have.
Sell Other Content
If webcam entertainer is the job, selling other content is the side hustle! By selling recorded videos of yourself or even access to your Snapchat account, you can label it as “premium content” and sell it at an extra price. If you’re comfortable enough, you can even take things a step further and sell your used panties or other personal items. You’d be surprised how much extra cash you can make from doing this, on top of whatever you’re making from private shows, group shows, tips, etc.
Protect Your Identity
You won’t have to worry about protecting your identity. Cam sites want their performers to feel as secure as possible and you can rest assured knowing you’re broadcasting yourself over private, safe connections. They’ll also give you tools to block users if you encounter people who are rude or verbally abusive.
Feel Free to Experiment
Treat your time as an experiment. Hitting on that perfect formula is going to take time. Try testing out different schedules, pricing, styles, settings and themes. Cam performers are a dime a dozen these days, so you need to do something that makes you stand out. A diamond in the rough. So play around with it. You’ll know when you’ve hit on something that works when people start flooding to your room.
Seek Out Advice From Other Professionals
There are sites and forums dedicated to discussing all things cam-related and they offer a wealth of information, especially if you’re new. Finally, let me impart my last little bit of wisdom, and that’s to have plenty of patience. Like anything worthwhile, it takes hard work and dedication. You won’t be making thousands of dollars overnight, but you can get there surprisingly quick if you keep at it and never give up. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t have a lot of people in your room the first few times you turn on your webcam. They’ll eventually come. It reminds me of this quote from the movie Field of Dreams:
“If you’re buck-naked, they will cum!” (I may have tweaked that a little.)
