Before I start, I want to be very clear and state that a sex cam addiction is incredibly rare. Chances are you’ll know exactly when and how to limit yourself. But, like anything, too much of one thing is never a good thing. If you’re getting to a point where you feeling like your time on cam sites is interfering with your life, I want you to take the following points into consideration and use them to help you get back on the right track.
1. Recognize When You Have a Problem
Here are some key factors you should be aware of:
- Getting a headache after prolonged camming
- Spending most of your free time, or too much time in general, on cam sites
- Negative effects on your relationships
- Financial struggles as a result of your spending habits
Camming should always be fun – headaches interfere with that. If you spend several hours in front of your computer, eye strain is a common symptom. This is actually normal to a certain extent, but if you start to notice this happening on a recurring basis, it could be the first sign that you might be addicted to camming.
Next, how is it affecting your relationships? While cultivating relationships with cam girls is exciting, it should always come secondary to your real-life relationships. It’s okay to stay home one evening to chat with your favorite performer instead of going out with your friends or significant other – and I completely understand that it can be used as a tool to deal with loneliness, especially if you find yourself at home with nothing to do and no one to meet up with – but if you have an opportunity to go out, you should take it.
Lastly, pay your bills first! You should never purchase tokens or spend money on private shows if it means you won’t be able to buy groceries or pay your phone bill. Again, if you have financial struggles in the back of your mind, there’s no way you’ll be able to enjoy a cam session. If anything, use this as an opportunity to cultivate friendships on free cam sites and when you have a bit of extra cash, go for it!
2. Everything in Moderation
This sort of goes back to the first point I made, but my suggestion here is a little different. I recommend taking breaks from camming BEFORE you start experiencing any of the “symptoms” above. Don’t wait until you have a headache to take a break. Like anything, it should be enjoyed in moderation. Plus, it gives you a chance to miss the experience a bit. Personally, when I take a day or two off, it makes my next session more thrilling.
3. Look After Your Mental, Social and Physical Health
Your health comes first! Period. So make sure you do the following:
- Get adequate sleep
- Exercise
- Keep your mind active with other activities (read a book, for example)
- Maintain your real-life friendships and relationships
- Eat healthily
Are these steps obvious? Of course, they are! But they’re worth mentioning because looking after your health is not only necessary, it’ll also improve your camming sessions. You’ll be more alert, both mentally and physically, and you’ll have an easier time socializing. Trust me; girls pick up on a guy who’s confident and alert, two things that come from a state of mental, social and physical wellbeing.
4. Set a Cam Budget
Some sites, like RabbitsCams, let you set a daily budget for yourself. This is a great tool to ensure you never overdo it with your spending. But most sites don’t have this feature, so it’s up to you to budget accordingly. Set aside an amount each week or month that you’re willing to spend on cams and STICK TO THAT AMOUNT. It requires discipline, but you’ll thank yourself in the end for not overspending.
5. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask For Help
If none of these tips help, it might be time to seek some professional help. Get in touch with your local addiction centers, or even friends and family you can trust, and ask for advice. And here are a few resources that are worth checking out. Note: Many of these links refer to alcohol and drug addictions, but the same principles can be applied to sex cam addiction.
